This 1965 GTO is finished in Bluemist Slate over a Black interior and features the very desirable WS code engine, W code 4-speed M20 wide ratio and Y code, 3.55 Safe-T-Track rear axle. In addition to these wonderful options, the car recently underwent a complete frame off rotisserie restoration. The cherry on the top of this car is that it has only had one owner its entire life. In 1965 a youngster purchased the car the age of 18, enjoyed it for many years and recently had it restored. His name on the title is the same as the name on the Protecto plate which accompanies the car. Also accompanying the car are a set of PHS docs.
The body of the GTO was stripped down to bare metal and was removed from the frame of the car. The frame was media blasted and was painted in the correct black finish. While the body was off the frame, all of the brake and suspension components were replaced from front to rear. All of the brake and fuel lines are new as well, as are all of the suspension and body bushings. The chassis is highly detailed and all of the components are finished with the factory correct inspection stickers. The car retains its original glass and the original stainless trim has been refinished. The car has a very nice, and very correct Gardner exhaust system complete with the desirable split exhaust tips.
The interior has been restored with all new parts including the seats, dash, headliner, carpeting and rear panels. The dash wood is new and surrounds the desirable Rally dash configuration complete with Tachometer. The shiny console is a welcomed option between the two front buckets and the retractable seat belts were an original option as well.
The 360 HP, WS Tri-Power engine is original to the car. It was built by well known GTO expert Scott Tiemann and bares number 498980 which matches the Protecto plate. On the 1965 GTO, the Protecto plate is the only way to match up the engine to the car. There is no stamping that corresponds to the VIN so a Protecto plate is a must have! The engine casting is 9778789 and the build date is C8 5 which precedes 05A build date of the car. The car has the correct "77" heads and the intake casting number is 9778878. Moving on to the carbs, the front carb # is 7024178, the middle carb # is 7025175, and the rear carb # is 7025178 making this a complete set of correct carbs for a 1965 Tri Power GTO! The transmission casting number is 3851325 which was only used in 1964 and 1965 and the rear end casting is 979822.
