On March 9th 1964 Lee Iacocca made himself an eternal place in American automotive history with the release of a car which would reshape the design and performance expectations for all automobiles sold within the North American market within the next forty years-the Ford Mustang.

Unlike many contemporaries of the car named after the famous World War II fighter plane, the Mustang was not a large sedan with a big block motor shoe-horned in as an after thought, but rather a purpose built performance coupe with its sights set on creating a new niche within the automotive sphere.

For 1965 the legendary Carroll Shelby created 36 racing variants of the already great Mustang fastback, which became the venerable and extremely valuable GT350—a very few of which were equipped with the potent Paxton Supercharger to become the GT350 SC.

This astonishingly well prepared and well finished 1965 Ford Mustang GT350 SC Pro Touring Shelby Tribute is finished in Rangoon Red with White Lemans stripes and Black interior. This remarkable car has not only a complete nut and bolt, concourse level finish, but is also a remarkably outfitted performance car prepared for the green or the tarmac, and is a ferociously serious contender on either surface.

This uniquely humbling, completely customized and restored automobile is equipped with:

  • Paxton supercharged 302cid 450hp V8
  • Custom handling package with carBilleu variable adjustable coil over shocks with 12 variable adjustments on all four corners
  • Willwood 4-wheel disc brakes with fingertip adjustable variances
  • Center console with Resto-Mod short throw shifter
  • Tremec TKO performance 5-speed manual transmission
  • Centerforce clutch kit
  • Heidt Super Ride 2 front suspension
  • X-brace
  • Power rack and pinion steering
  • TRW forged pistons
  • Edelbrock performer RPM camshaft
  • Flowmaster mufflers

…and too much more to inventory here.

This remarkable car is not rare, it is entirely unique. There a few cars available at any price which can approach the level of detail, preparation, extraordinary tuning, and high performance usability which this car offers.

With a recent GT350 SC selling in March of ’07 for $528K, and a variety of Shelby GT replicas bringing well over $200K on an average day, it is clear that this is a car with all of its future before it. Nevertheless, though the investment opportunity may be far superior to most blue chip stocks-this is no car to buy for its investment value. This is a true and unadulterated work of performance art in engineering, and should only be owned and respected by someone capable of appreciating, and deserving of such a fine and entirely unique automobile!
