The restoration on this stunning 1966 Mustang Fastback was actually started in 1980 when an enthusiast purchased it from the original owner. At this time the car was stripped down to bare metal and the body was restored using original Ford parts which were still available. After painting the car in primer, the builder grew tired of the work and put the car into storage for the next 25 years.

In May of 2005, an enthusiast with a headful of fun ideas purchased the Mustang as a titled rolling chassis. First, he removed the old primer and took the car back down to bare metal which was rust proofed with Eastwood "encapsulator." The undercarriage was tastefully finished in Eastwood chassis black and then lightly under coated to give it the roadworthiness that it would need. The panels were then finished off and then skillfully gapped. The final finish and wet sanding were completed in 2007 giving the car the beautifully, flat and slick finish it currently has. The paint is DuPont base coat clear coat Chevrolet Victory Red 2005. The finish on this red pony exudes "show quality" wherever you look.

The car goes down the road like a rocket runs nice and cool. The previous owner resided in California and ran the car in 95 degree heat with zero cooling issues. The engine, which made over 400 HP on the dyno, revs very quickly. With the overdrive transmission it will cruise the freeway at 75 mph with no problems. This car is powerful running on two barrels, but when the secondaries open up, you better hold on. This car is a missile disguised as a ’66 Mustang Fastback. Most cars running even a mildly aggressive cam suffer from vacuum loss to the brake booster-a formula for a high horsepower car with scary, mediocre braking characteristics. The Mustang’s builder achieved the performance braking the car needs and deserves with a hydro boost brake kit powering front and rear disc brakes, which have fantastic stopping power and feel.
