With styling inspirations derived heavily from the Pininfarina designed 250-series Ferraris of the 1960s, Second Generation Chevrolet Camaros represented something of a departure from the largely re-bodied Novas of the First Generation cars with their somewhat more refined and testosterone infused interpretation of Italian design etiquette. Of the cars of this period, which suffered with increasing severity, the emissions regulations and diminishing performance of the time, these first year, Second Generation cars are certainly the high point of the period and without question the most collectible and well regarded of the time.

This exceptionally rare 1970 Chevrolet Camaro SS 396 is a solid and rust free Southern car, finished in its original Cortez Silver with black interior. The Camaro is a true L34 (big block, SS) – a distinction it shares among a mere 1,864 units produced in 1970, and features: power steering, power front disc brakes, factory air conditioning-currently inoperative (L34 cars are very rare to find with air conditioning!), bucket seats, center console, rear spoiler, front spoiler, 3.31:1 locking rear end, SS wheels, dual exhaust, AM radio, tachometer and SS gauges.

The 396 CI engine is a correct 396cid ,that mates to the Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. It has an upgraded modern Quick Fuel carburetor for driver convenience.

The car received gorgeous rotisserie restoration last year and has seen just a few hundred test miles since the job was completed.

One of the most rapidly growing segments in the collector car market today, these early second generation SS Camaros are automobiles which have yet to come into their own. For the savvy collector or enthusiast, extremely rare examples such as this valuable SS 396 are poised to make serious gains in the coming years!
