This 1989 Mustang GT, 5-speed convertible was originally won in a radio contest by the first owner and has been lovingly cared for by the second owner for many years. Finished in black over gray interior with a desirable array of options, this car is represents the quintessential third generation Mustang GT. The virgin example has just over 20,000 miles since new and is the nicest we have ever seen.
The Mustang is an absolutely original example and according to our paint meter the car, has a totally original finish. There are just a few minor touch-ups to be found but we rarely see paint this nice on an original car of this vintage. Of course, all of the body panels are original to the car and retain their factory VIN sticker for identification. All of the GT body moldings are in perfect condition, free of any cracks or fading caused by the sun, or run-ins with the mower in the garage. All of the glass is original to the car and even the original top is still in place and is in excellent condition. The wheels are free from any unsightly curb rash, and the original and slightly dry rotted tires have been replaced with a nice new set.
The leather interior has been beautifully preserved by the last two owners. The leather is still soft and supple and all of the plastic trim is free from any fading or cracking. Everything we’ve tested on the GT is in good working condition including all of the switches, gauges, electrical motors, etc.. The carpeting is in excellent condition with only very minor discoloration to the driver’s side, gray floor mat. The car is documented with a mint copy of the original window stick and maintenance manuals.
For the purist looking for a true survivor car untouched by the devious hands of the teenage driver, the harsh effects of Mother Nature and free from accidents that are unavoidable even under the most careful eye, this Mustang GT is your new thoroughbred.
