Shaped by a thoroughbred racing history more distinguished than nearly any other American factory built special, the Boss 302 has become a legend for its ferocious Trans Am series performance, as well as, one of the most highly sought after collector cars of our time.

Conceived in response to initial defeats in the American Trans Am series, and named after stylist Larry Shinoda’s nickname for then Ford President Semon "Bunkie" Knudson, the venerable limited production Boss 302 would do much to regain Ford’s reputation for "Total Performance."

Built on March 3rd of 1970 and sold by Lewis County Motor Co. just 10 days later, this 1970 Boss 302 has been a Missouri resident since new. The car is one of just 1857 Mustangs that is finished in Grabber Green and one of just 351 that was built with a Grabber Green over White Rhino interior. The car also came equipped with the four speed Wide Ratio transmission, desired for its drag racing prowess over the short ratio road race transmission. The rear end is the 3.50 standard axle ratio.

The Boss was treated to a concourse level rotisserie restoration last year which has resulted in quite the show piece. The Boss was completely disassembled down to the uni-body, media blasted and repainted in it’s original Grabber Green hue. In reference to the original finishes on the Boss, the paint has been accurately replicated down to correct overspray patterns on the floor boards. The car also features all of the corrected painted inspection marks, stickers, and reproduction parts labels. The details are incredible and are seemingly endless with the hood open, or with the car up on a lift. All of the trim is either new, replaced, or re-chromed as is the glass. It’s a gem from a cosmetic standpoint.

The suspension components have a stunning finish accurate to the day this Boss rolled off the assembly line. They have also been fully restored as has the brake system which showcases an equal level of high detail work down to correctly colored drum brake springs in the rear and correct cast finish on the calipers. Open the engine compartment to reveal the numbers matching original motor detailed to the nines. The motor is restored just like it was when this car was new down to the hose clamps, markings, wiring, etc… The engine makes great power down low, really nice power up top and has been fully rebuilt from top to bottom. The fully rebuilt transmission is not original to the car but the rear end is the correct 3.50 unit and has also been rebuilt. Both have been correctly finished to match the overall correctness of the Boss.

With just over 7,000 Boss Mustangs rolling off the line is 1970, this extremely rare, highly correct and original, and rapidly appreciating icon of the among the most important Mustangs will certainly prove to be one of the best investments one could hope for in the coming years!
