This 1949 Chevy 3100 is the recipient of a 3 year frame-off restoration. It features a host of new parts, restored drivetrain, beautiful paint and bodywork, and a brand new electrical system. It is a wonderful driving vehicle that needs nothing to be enjoyed, or driven straight to the show to collect a trophy.
Beginning with complete disassembly, the restoration on this Chevy is was very thorough to say the least. With the cab, fenders, and bed removed from the frame, the components were first media blasted. The frame was completely stripped of the suspension components and then was stripped down to bare metal. After the frame was complete, the body was reassembled and the panels were aligned. The panel fit is excellent and all stainless body bolts were used when the reassembly occurred. The bed features new wood, stainless bolts and stainless stripes. It has never been used to carry anything and is in mint condition. The undercarriage is still "restoration" fresh as the truck has just 150 miles on it since the job was completed. All of the chrome on the truck is new as is all of the stainless trim. The glass is new as well and of course all of the rubber is brand new. Upon completion of the work on the truck, the body was color sanded and buffed out. It’s a slick job.
The 213 motor has been rebuilt from top to bottom, and so has the transmission and the rear end. The carburetor, radiator and engine accessories are also rebuilt. The engine compartment is nicely finished to show standards and features a reproduction version of the correct engine wiring harness complete with correct wire sheathing. The motor purrs along after it starts up and settles into a nice idles after warm up.
Wrapping up the restoration, the interior of the truck was reassembled with all new gear. The original seat was rebuilt and then reassembled with fresh covers which match the paint scheme and the door panels. All interior hardware has been replaced with new bits and the gauges have been disassembled, rebuilt and refinished. The steering wheel is nicely finished with a coat of fresh paint and is totally crack free and as new. The floor is covered with a reproduction rubber mat complete with jute padding underneath.
