This ISCA show car is complete stunner that was tastefully constructed using only the best parts and the highest quality workmanship. The car has won multiple ISCA and Super Chevy trophies and has just a few hundred miles since the restoration was completed two years ago.
The paint on this 1964 Chevelle is as deep as it gets and the restorers were able to get the body straight, straight, straight. You can pick an angle and peer down the side and you’ll agree that you rarely see black cars with body work this nice. The paint is PPG triple black and it has been hand finished to perfection. The car did not win an ISCA Best Paint award for nothing. Your friends will envy you. Other owners will cower in your vehicle’s presence. Prepare to intimidate.
The all-leather interior is very tastefully done as it snakes its way around roll cage that really stiffens up this ride. The leather is diamond perforated, high quality stuff and wraps around a custom bench seat that is complete with an arm rest. The rear seat and door panels are finished in the same leather and the rear shelf is custom made to accommodate the roll bars.
The motor is a 400 small block with Air Flow Research aluminum heads, a Comp Cam roller cam, Ross pistons, H-beam rods, a steel crank, MSD ignition, and MSD billet alternator. The engine made 520 HP on the dyno and is a quick revving, rip roaring piece. For the enthusiast looking for a little extra power, just tap into the nitrous system for some real fun. The motor is very neatly installed with excellent routing of the wiring and hoses. The radiator is an Be Cool aluminum unit with dual electric, thermostatically controlled Spal fans with an optional manual override.
The transmission is a built Turbo 400 with Gear Vendors overdrive/underdrive. The system allows you split gears up and down and also allows a 25% average savings in gas consumption during highway cruising. The rear end is a 12 bolt posi unit with 3:73 gears and really puts down the rubber.
The suspension consists of a mostly Fatman front end with tubular upper and lower control arms. The steering box is a quick ratio AGR unit and the shocks are QA1 adjustable units. The rear end is all Hotchkiss 4-link and has QA1 coil overs as well. The Chevelle tracs nicely under full tire spinning throttle and the ride on the street is firm but still nice and smooth. The wheels are 18×7 in the front and 18×10 in the rear. The are fitted with Nitto 235/40/18 tires up front and Nitto 305/45/18 drag radials out back.Quite the grippy package. The brakes are Baer 13" rotors and accompanying calipers all the way around.
Cruising the Chevelle down the road is quite the experience. The handling is awesome and the power is right there when you need it. The motor revs fast and produces instant on-tap acceleration. It has a nasty little exhaust note courtesy of the 3" mandrel bent, coated exhaust system. On the highway, you can cruise all day long thanks to the awesome Gear Vendors overdrive transmission. We can’t say enough good things about the benefits of these killer units.
For the picky collector/enthusiast looking for performance, fantastic quality, and stunning good looks in one package, this car is the business.
