In 1968 when you wanted a quality Muscle car with creature comforts and plenty of power, the Chevy Chevelle SS was your go to player, and Chevrolet really knew what the buyers wanted. Numerous Regular Production Options were available for order and customers pre-ordered cars for delivery a few months later. Models and options changed frequently and there was nothing more exciting that trading up for the latest and greatest that Chevrolet had to offer.

Built in Kansas City, Missouri in the last week of November, 1967, this 1968 Chevy Chevelle SS is finished in Fathom Blue over a Parchment interior. To the best of our knowledge, it has had 4 owners. The car still retains its original matching numbers drivetrain with its ET coded engine, CC coded Transmission and CY coded Rear End.

The vehicle and corresponding driveline build dates are as follows:

Vehicle build date: 5th week of November

Engine build date: November 14th
Transmission build date: November 17th
Rear end build date: October 28th

Two years ago, the car was treated for a full, frame off rotisserie restoration and has been driven just under 1000 miles since. The body was stripped down to bare metal and a fresh coat of Fathom Blue was laid down. It was then color sanded and buffed to a flat mirror shine. All of the chrome has been refinished and all of the trim has been polished. The glass is in excellent condition and is in mostly original with the exception of the driver side which is a replacement piece. The undercarriage is finished as nice as the top side and really pops.

The interior appointments are completely new from front to rear including all of the soft and hard parts. The Chevelle has the Instrumentation package, Rolling tach, Tilt steering, Speed Warning indicator, the FM radio with Multiflex adaptor and dealer installed 8 Track. Check out the front fenders and rear package tray and you will see the very rare U46 Fiber Optic light monitoring system. The car is also equipped with Remote mirrors, bucket seats with headrests and a center console. Creature comforts include a correct AC system which blows nice and cold.

All driveline, suspension, and brake components were rebuilt during the restoration and the Chevelle is a very reliable car to drive. The motor makes great power and the transmission executes smooth shifts. The suspension and brakes are nice and smooth and don’t miss the rare air shocks in back.

For the collector looking for a real investment worthy Chevelle, this car will get you to the shows and win trophies all day long.
