Built at the Metuchen plant in November of 1969, this 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 is finished in Bright Gold Metallic over a Medium Ginger Clarion Knit Interior. The Mach 1 is one of just 1,578 cars finished in this color combination. The car is a M code (351 4-barrel) and is equipped with the FMX transmission and 3.00 rear end. Other options include Power Steering, Power Brakes, Selectair AC and tinted windows. The car was sold at Deel Motors in Coral Gables Florida and appears to have remained in Florida for almost all of its life with a final stint in Arizona after the restoration was completed.
The Mustang is the recent recipient of a rotisserie restoration where the vehicle was taken down to a bare metal shell and rebuilt from the ground up. The results are a beautifully restored car that is great for shows or cruising. The car has all new chrome, trim, lenses and wheels. The undercarriage is immaculate and is finished in red primer and is detailed with inspection marks. It even has the overspray marks that you would have seen on these cars off the factory assembly line. The panel fit is excellent between the doors and the quarters, and the trunk and hood also line up well. It appears that the car has its original sheet metal including the floor pans.
During the reinstallation of the Deluxe interior, all new soft parts were used including the seats, door panels, headliner, carpeting and dash. The car is equipped with the Clarion Knit, Corinthian vinyl which is correct for the Mach One. All of the rubber on the car is new throughout including the door seals, window felts, trunk seal, and window seals. The interior features the fold down rear seat for that sporty look.
Driving the Mustang is a blast. It’s an "easy to drive" Muscle car given its high option package which include power steering, and power disc brakes. You can also stay cool all Summer long with the factory correct AC system. The car cruises out nicely on the highway and it’s a cinch to maneuver around town.
Whether you are a seasoned Mustang enthusiast, or just looking to get started with a fully restored Pony car, it’s hard to go wrong with this sweet Mach 1.
