Built in the second week of July, this 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 is finished in factory-correct Fathom Green over a green vinyl interior.
The Chevelle has benefitted from a complete frame-off rotisserie restoration back to better than new condition! During the restoration, the car was stripped down to bare metal and is believed to retain all of its original sheet metal. The body lines and shut gaps are excellent and correctly mirror the original panel fitment. The SS has been properly blocked prior to paint and the car is very straight. The paint is a two-stage finish with a color sanded and buffed-out clear. All of the chrome and stainless is restored/new and the glass is in good condition. All new are all the rubber parts, including all seals and gaskets.
The interior features new seat covers, new carpeting, and a set proper set of gauges with the SS 5,700 RPM redline. Additional options include AM radio, buckets, and center console.
The undercarriage is refinished in semi-gloss black, and during the restoration, the frame was completely stripped and refinished. You could eat off the bottom of this Chevy. All of the suspension/brake and steering components have been redone, and the car has an excellent and tight feel. Underneath you’ll also find a stainless exhaust system with a nice crisp note. Looking into the engine compartment, you find the correct GM black and has a ton of beautifully detailed components. Hoses, lines, and wires are correct
The engine is the number matching unit with the correct 3955272 casting number. The JK corresponding stamping goes with ‘69 396CI with a Turbo 400 tranny. The motor is properly detailed and an immaculate centerpiece for the pristine engine compartment. The rear end is a CI code 3.73 Posi unit that provides nice traction out the hole.
From the driver’s seat, the Chevrolet is easy to drive and the motor puts out great power. The car is properly tuned and the motor falls into a nice idle after a short warm-up period. The suspension and steering both have a tight feel and the car is as stable on the highway as it is around town.
For the enthusiast looking for a drivable car that will kill it at shows, this Chevelle has good looks and lots of power on tap.
