This mild custom built 1972 Corvette is constructed with just the right amount of parts to greatly raise the level of performance without robbing it of its classic car soul.
The GM performance engine and transmission were both professionally installed in 2013 at a cost of over 33k. The engine makes big block power and performance out of a stoker small block package that really rocks. These engines have a big, fat torque curve starting around 1,800 RPM making them a blast around town and out on the open roads. The Fast Burn heads have large 2.00″/1.55″ valves and specially designed chambers that draw in lots of air and fuel, burning the mixture quickly and completely. These are really great all-around engines and largely underrated given their performance and overall reliability. The tranny is a beefy Legend Gear and Transmission 5-speed manual. These beefy aluminum cased trannys use an oversized synchronizer system with high energy absorption carbon Kevlar synchro friction liner material, machined forged steel alloy blocker rings, billet steel synchro struts, a field interchangeable clutch release provision (mechanical or hydraulic), AGMA class 12 CNC helical ground gears, synchro meshed gears (including reverse), precision cast chrome alloy steel shift forks and bronze pads, and provisions for three stock shifter locations. To say they are overengineered, doesn’t really do them justice.
The Corvette uses a Fast EZ EFI FI system which cold starts like a champ and provides phenomenal performance. The engine exhales through a set of Hedman Elite headers which flow into a Pypes Performance stainless exhaust system. Keeping things cool is an all-aluminum radiator with a single electric fan and spark comes from an MSD Pro Billet distributor.
The suspension has been completely rebuilt, and the steering has been upgraded with a Flaming River Rack and Pinion system. The brakes are stock, four-wheel disc and have been gone through as well. You’ll find that the suspension has new shocks and bushings throughout.
The car has the feel of a nicely refined stock Vette and has been reliably driving since it’s restoration in 2013. If you are looking for an absolute blast of a classic car, this Vette is for you.
