The truck was originally sold in Missouri and looks to have had 5 owners since new. The gentleman who owned the truck last also had the truck restored to its current condition. Although titled in Missouri with a current title, the original 1941 title is still with the truck and remains in excellent condition!
At the start of the restoration, the ‘41 was completely disassembled and stripped to bare metal. The body was found to be in very good condition and all body work and paint was performed by Ron’s Collision repair in Mexico, MO. All of the chromework was redone as well by Highline Plating in Cuba, MO. All of the rubber seals have been replaced and all of the glass on the truck is new.
The interior of the truck was restored and features more detailed paintwork as seen on the outside of the Chevy. The interior panels are all new and the wiring was all replaced during the restoration.
The 216 CI engine is original to the truck and was completely rebuilt by Barry Sparks in Vandalia, Missouri. The engine was disassembled and cleaned. Next it received new rings, main bearings, cam bearings, a new camshaft, lifters, new timing gears, an oil pump, freeze plugs and water pump. The crankshaft was turned, the Babbitt rods were reconditioned, the valves were ground and the seats cleaned. The carb was rebuilt and the ignition system restored. Finally the engine was thoroughly detailed and painted. For a 70+ year old engine, it’s a wonderful running unit!
From a suspension and brake standpoint, the truck has all new wheel cylinders, a new master, new brake shoes, and new lines and hoses. The springs have all new shackles, pins and bushings, and the hydraulic shocks have been gone through. The steering components have also been restored and replaced as needed. The frame and undercarriage are highly detailed on the truck and the bottom looks as nice as the top.
