Inspired by stable mate Pontiac’s successes with their Lemans and GTO Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde routine — Buick sought to fashion its own muscle car as the split personality of one of its existing models.
The result took the form of the Buick Skylark based Gran Sport—a car with potent street credentials and stylish good looks. Of those variants produced between 1965 and 1972, among the most rare and sought after are the 1970 Buick Gran Sport Stage One coupes.
This 1970 GranSport Stage I clone is equipped with a 455 V-8, correct Stage l engine and transmission, Ram Air, and posi-trac automatic transmission. The engine was recently rebuilt to Stage I specs including rare original chrome valve covers. Everything has been replaced, rebuilt, or restored. The Buick is finished in the correct black exterior with white interior. It runs and drives excellent.
For the savvy enthusiast or collector, there will be few more enjoyable or rare cars to invest in!
