In 1911 William Durant and Louis Chevrolet founded Chevrolet Motor Company, the company whose success would five years later allow William Durant to recapture the managing share of the company he founded in 1908, and whose financiers forced Durant out of in 1910, GM.
Among the variety of rare and collectible trucks manufactured since 1911, perhaps more than any other automaker, those of Chevrolet have defined themselves as the most stylish and sought after for enthusiasts in the genre.
This frame off restored 1950 Chevrolet 3100 Pick-up is superbly finished in gorgeous Red with an exceptional dark brown interior. The car was treated to a full restoration a few years ago and currently sits in very high condition. The Chevrolet features a fully sorted 235 Thrift master engine hooked up to a three speed manual transmission. The rear end has been built to handle highway speeds, and the truck cruises nicely at 75 MPH. The brakes and suspension are restored original components and the tires are reproduction bias-ply units to give the truck a very correct and original look. Not original originally found on the 3100 is the Vintage AC system seen in the engine compartment and interior of the truck. It is expertly installed and blows ice cold air for climate controlled summer cruising.
The engine compartment and interior are highly detailed and both feature all new electrical systems. The glass, chrome, and stainless have all been restored or replaced during the restoration and of course the wooded bed is new as well. The undercarriage is very clean and sports a satin black frame and bright red paneling.
