A popular cruiser since their inception, Tri-Five Chevys are not only excellent to drive, but also take nicely to modern and mild custom modifications. This 1956 Chevy Post has been driven just 1,000 test miles since it received a rotisserie, frame off restoration. The car is just a peach to drive and will win you some trophies along the way.
Beginning with a strip down to bare metal, a completely refinished frame, and a highly detailed undercarriage, this 56 Chevy has been restored from top to bottom. The panels were straightened, gapped and laid out with a slick new two-stage paint job in Viper Blue over white. The frame is finished in gloss black as are the floorboards, trunk pan, and gas tank. All of the stainless on the car has either been polished or replaced and all of the chrome on the car is brand spanking new. All of the glass is new with factory tint.
In an offering that provides a durable and powerful motor that runs on pump gas, Chevrolet debuted the Ram Jet 350. The Ram Jet set up hailed from early Chevrolet fuel injection set-ups, but it has never looked better than on this modern motor. Controlled by the easily tunable MEFI-4 system the motor has state of the art electronics, and Chevrolet reliability. The engine makes a solid 350 HP and 400lbs ft of torque which is more than adequate for snappy acceleration. Through a custom exhaust, it sounds most excellent and will most certainly please the senses of the classic car enthusiast. Providing the smooth shifting is a 200 R4 overdrive transmission. This puppy is the deal around town and on the highway and offers the modern versatility we expect from a transmission. Keeping the motor cool is a big, polished Ron Davis radiator with dual fans. It is thermostatically controlled and is set up with an fan override switch, just in case. Adorning the front of the motor is a March serpentine set up that not only looks over the top, but provides excellent pulley alignment and placement.
The brake and suspension set up on the Chevy is a nicely upgraded package compared to what we would see on a stock ’56. The front-end features a CPP 500 power steering gear box, tubular control arms, and dropped spindles. Of course, all these goodies are nearly new and the brakes have been upgraded from the stock configuration with a power front disc kit. The ride is slightly more aggressive than stock, and a nice addition to the car.
Along with nice performance parts, the Chevy is loaded with excellent creature comforts. The interior is a mild custom job complete with custom seats and a matching custom headliner. The carpeting is thick pile and has been heavily insulated. The trunk is finished to match the interior. Keeping you and your passengers cool is a Vintage A/C system. These systems feature all new parts, ice cold air, and new car reliability. The column is polished tilt and telescopic unit from Ididit which put the important controls right where you need them to be. The radio is a modern unit that fits nicely in the original slot and keep things looking classy while providing much improved sound quality over stock. The gauges are really tastefully displayed with nice accurate AutoMeters dropped into the stock locations.
This Tri-five Chevy is a fresh and tastefully done cruiser that anyone can drive, any shop can service and trust us, she’s a blast. If you think we won’t be driving the car in this nice weather before it sells, you would be a fool, but we promise to take good care until the Chevy gets to your garage.
