You’ve got a fever, and the only prescription is a ’56 Chevy Post Coupe. Not just any run down, used up Chevy, but a proper one. You know, the kind that has had a frame-off, rotisserie restoration, modern amenities like fuel injection, air conditioning, disc brakes, and ridiculously nice paint. A car that drives exactly like you pictured it driving – tight, quick, and smooth. A car that breeds envy in the souls of all Chevy fans that it motors by – this car.
Truly nice cars are either perfect original specimens or cars that have been totally apart, completely, restored and expertly reassembled. This ’56 started off as a nice car that was then stripped completely down to its skivvies and rebuilt by a restorer with high standards. The paint and bodywork are quite nice. Laser straight body work, great gaps, super slicked out deep paint. It’s what we look for in nice cars. All of the chrome, trim, and glass was either refinished, or replaced during the restoration. It’s been just over 2,000 miles since the work was performed and everything is still in excellent condition.
The interior has been completely redone and is tight, clean and very fresh. The skins are reproductions of original patterns as is the carpeting. Replacing the original gauges and clock are a nice set of digital Dakota gauges. To the right of the gauges lie original looking climate controls which now run the Vintage AC system. It’s ice cold and the weather is already hot around here, so we expect that you like that option. The modern digital radio fits into the factory slot in the dash and there is a 10 disc changer and an amp in the truck.
The motor is a fresh 305 TPI, is quite peppy and a nice pairing with the 350 transmission. The fuel injection makes turn-key driving a reality. No more flooded engines, cold weather stubbornness, or carb rebuilding. Just turn the key and the computer takes care of the rest. This nice kit from Street and Performance is a great option and does an excellent job of merging reliability and performance. Keeping the ride nice and smooth is a completely rebuilt suspension mounted on that really sweet powder coated frame. Power steering and brakes make cruising a cinch and the BFG tires are a nice step up over the poly glass originals.
This frame-off restored Chevy is a truly nice car that needs nothing – except a new home. We are currently taking applications from truly nice new potential owners.
