Purchased new on November 17th, 1967, this 1968 Oldsmobile 442 Holiday Coupe has been owned by just two family members since new. The car has been driven just under 65,000 miles since and still has all of its original glass and metal.
4 years ago, the car was gifted a frame off restoration by the nephew of the original owner. The car lived a privileged life and had only two spots of corrosion at the bottoms of the front quarters. They were easily patched with nice new metal and the original quarters were preserved. The frame was stripped down to bare metal and has been finished in the original black as have the floorboards. The top side of the car sports an amazing show quality paint job, finished in the correct Ocean Turquoise hue. The bodywork is incredibly straight, the door, hood and trunk gaps are dead-on and the paint has a mirror like finish. All of the chrome on the car has been redone and all of the trim is original, and has been polished out beautifully.
The engine, transmission, and rear end are all original to the car and were rebuilt during the restoration. The engine makes a solid 350 HP from the factory and is currently equipped with an aftermarket intake and carburetor. The original intake still remains with the car. The motor is equipped with the original heads, and water pump and still has the original distributor. The transmission was in very good shape prior to the rebuild and simply needed a little bit of synchro work and a reseal. It is one of just over 400 3 speed Hurst transmission that appeared in the 1968 442s making it a very rare option.
Other original options on the car include the vinyl top, power brakes, power steering, AM radio, console, super stock 14" wheels, and tinted windshield. The Oldsmobile is a wonderful driving car and the perfect combination of a survivor car that has been given a very nice restoration. The 442 is extremely reliable and can be driven anywhere with confidence. Don’t miss out on this gem of a 442!
