There are lots of cars out there with decent paint jobs and gummed up mysterious undercarriages, but not this Pony car. This 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback has been treated to a photo documented rotisserie restoration completed three years ago. The entire car was stripped down to the uni-body and media blasted to remove any corrosion, years of grime, layers of paint and old undercoating. After shooting the car in a fresh coat of etching primer, the body work was completed and the car was refinished in a nice new coat of Ford Sonic Blue. The color really pops in the sunlight and coats everywhere from the undercarriage to the engine compartment. No unsightly undercoating to be seen on this hot ride.
The professionally built motor produces a dynoed 420 HP. It has a Comp Cam, aluminum heads, Edelbrock intake, Quick Fuel carb, Pro Billet MSD distributor, MSD coil. The motor is equipped with a serpentine belt system running the AC compressor, power steering, alternator, water pump and fan. The engine is tuned for pump gas and really rips around town while running cool temperatures. The transmission is a Ford 4-speed and the rear end is a Ford 9" with Detroit locker 3.55 gears. It willfully lays down parallel tire strips at your command.
The interior features all new soft parts and nicely upgraded electric, leather seats. They are super comfortable and ready for the long haul to your favorite car show. The AC controls have been integrated into the existing controls to keep things looking nice and stock on the dash. The stereo has been upgraded with a modern unit and 4 nice sounding speakers and amp and sub. There is also an IPOD connection for your listening pleasure.
The Mustang is equipped with a new 4-wheel disc brake system and a totally rebuilt suspension. While the bodywork was in progress, all new suspension parts were sourced and reassembled on the car once everything was ready to go back together. The car is lowered 2 inches all the way around and the ride is nice and smooth.
This Mustang is a great all around winner combining an excellent driving experience with very nice cosmetics. For the collector that is looking for a new Pony car for his or her corral, look no further than this awesome mild custom.
