Pick up trucks were originally produced with one purpose in mind – work. They see hard use for farm work, construction and just about everything in between. Many teenagers had them for first vehicles and then they were forgotten about. Then something interesting started to happen. It turns out that these work horses had good lines – great curvy lines, and they just didn’t stop. The only problem was that they didn’t really drive all that well – they drove like old trucks.

Finished in dark metallic Cherry over a custom leather interior, this 1950 Ford F1 is a very nice custom that not only looks the part, but drives it as well. It was the recipient of a frame-off restoration that focused on building a classic truck that drove more like a modern car. Gone is is the old straight 6, eliminated is the straight front axle, forgotten are the dated brakes, and in their place stands a whole new cast of characters.

The Ford now rides on a complete suspension from Heidts. These guys build some of the best aftermarket suspensions in the the business that offer a true night and day transformation over any stock components. The entire chassis was stripped during the restoration and has been refinished in shade of light grey. In the front of the truck, we have the Heidts Mustang II style front end complete with tubular control arms, Billet coil over shocks and very accurate power rack and pinion steering. The old loose steering box is long gone and modern technology sits in its place. In the rear of the truck sits the Heidts 4-link set up complete with adjustable Billet shocks. The Ford is now equipped with a quick-stopping power disc brake system and a killer set off custom wheels that are 18" up front and 20" in the rear.

The engine is a snappy fuel injected 302 with a mild street cam, GT40 intake, BBK throttle body, electronic ignition and headers. The truck is quite quick with this combination and the built C4 transmission pops off quick shifts. In the rear sits a Ford 9" housing complete with 3.55 Detroit locker gears. The overall combo is at home off the line, and out on the open road. This is a great driving truck.

The interior is finished in leather and the dash is complete with modern gauges, an Ididit tilt column, Lokar shifter, Panasonic radio, 4 speakers, 1 sub and an ice cold Vintage Air system. More of that black cherry paint covers the dash and all of the soft parts including the headliner, door panels and carpeting are new as of the restoration.

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to own this great Ford pickup!
