This 1965 Mustang is a ground up restoration using parts from some of the biggest names in the business. You won’t find any warmed over parts on the car – just a lot of high performance goodies. On top of the performance parts, the builder incorporated a number of subtle body modifications that really make this a unique ride.
Starting with the body, the car was stripped down to bare metal and given a slick new red paint job with white stripes. The car has custom front and rear spoilers that really give it an aggressive look and 17" inch wheels with Toyo Proxes tires that set off the stance of the car. The clean look of this car continues through the tidy engine compartment and undercarriage which both wear a durable finish that you can put some street miles on the car and not worry about minor wear and tear.
The interior is a mild custom job and is new from front to rear. All the of the soft parts have been replaced with new interior parts as have all of the interior trim items and switches. The gauges are by Classic Industries and feature a custom speedometer, tach, oil pressure, amp gauge, and water temp gauge. A modern radio has been fitted that doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb; it has a classy vintage look, but no worries, it’s a digital unit that works perfectly. A sturdy Grant steering wheel has been fitted as well as a set of billet pedals and don’t miss the B&M shifter.
The engine is a Ford Racing X-302 with aluminum heads, 4-barrel manifold, Holley 4150 and hi-po fuel pump. These crate engines make 340 HP out of the box and 350 lb.ft torque. The displacement is actually closer to 306 and the bore is 4.030 x 3.0. The motor features Mahle forged pistons and a hydraulic roller cam shaft with .498 lift. Built with 9.0:1 compression, the motor runs perfectly on pump gas. The motor has ceramic coated headers and a Flow Master exhaust system that sounds tough. Keeping everything cool is a BeCool Radiator with dual electric fans. The transmission is a TCI built C4 with a transcooler and B&M shifter. The rear end is comprised of a Ford 9" housing with 3.73 Posi gears. This car lays down the rubber at your beck and call and is a blast to romp around town.
The suspension system is new from front to rear and benefits from QA1 shocks that can be adjusted to your prefered settings. The brake system feature a set of monster 6-Piston Wilwood brakes up front and with a matching 2-piston rears. The brakes have great feel and stop this car fast! The Mustang handles exceptionally well for a car of this vintage.
For the Pony Car enthusiast looking for a muscle car that is a shoe-in for anything from the HotRod Power Tour, to some local car show action, this Mustang gets after it and you won’t look back.
