Built in San Jose on September 3rd of 1968, this 1969 Mustang Mach 1 is an S-code 390 car equipped with a 4 speed transmission, power steering and power disc brakes. Most Mustang buyers in 1969 opted for the 351 and enthusiasts looking for more performance purchased the 428 Cobra Jet motor. Nowadays, we simply don’t see too many Mustang Mach 1’s equipped with the 390 CI engine. In terms of collectability, cars with these engines are desirable, and the performance that they put out is great.
Treated to a full rotisserie restoration, this Mach 1 has been restored from top to bottom. The car has been down to bare metal and features a two stage paint job that really shines. All the chrome and stainless is in excellent condition, the glass is all new and of course all the rubber has been replaced from front to rear. The engine compartment is highly detailed and extremely clean and features the powerful 390 engine. The undercarriage of the car has been finished in a clean semi gloss black; absent of any questionable undercoating. All of the suspension and brake components have been restored from front to rear and are highly detailed to match the rest of the car.
The car is peach to drive and fires right up. Free from any out-of-place aftermarket engine modifications, the rebuilt motor performs as it did right off the showroom floor, offering a blend of performance and street friendly characteristics that make it easy to drive and a heck of a lot of fun. The engine has no problem grabbing rubber at your command and the 4-speed transmission gives it that Muscle Car feel that you remember from the 1960’s.
The interior has been beautifully refinished and has all new soft coverings, shiny hard parts, beautifully restored gauges, and it even sports the correct original radio. Besides having new seat covers, the seats have been rebuilt with new foam and are supportive and sporty. The Mach 1 dash is in excellent condition as are the door panels, headliner and of course the carpeting is all brand new.
