Built at the Norwood plant in the last week of November, 1966, this 1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS SS is finished in code correct Bolero Red over a black interior has had a recent rotisserie restoration.
The Camaro is equipped with its original numbers matching L48 350/295 engine with the Powerglide transmission. The 350 was the only small block option for the SS Camaro in 1967 and the Powerglide transmission was the only available automatic transmission with that particular motor. The engine casting number is 3892657 and the block assembly date is 11/22 placing it right before the build date of the car. The block stamping is MU which corresponds with a 350 CI running through a Powerglide transmission. The transmission is correct for the car however, it is not the original, numbers matching unit. The PJ-code rear end is the original 12-bolt posi housing for the car with the correct 3.73 factory gears.
The body of the car features very straight panels that have been blocked to perfection. The paint is a base/clear job the and it has been wet sanded and buffed to a mirror shine. The interior is what was know as the interior decor group or Deluxe interior and comes with upgraded seats, door panels and gauges.
In 1967, the Camaro had a more complete option list on the trim tag than in later years, which makes decoding the cars much easier than Camaros from 1968 on up, when these codes vanished. The RS option package as seen on this car was comprised of cosmetic options. It consisted of concealed headlights with a different grille, back-up lights under the rear bumper, and included the Z21 style trim package. The car also has the front RS valance with the turn indicators mounted on the valance instead of the grill. Different from the RS package, the SS package added 7 high performance options to the base Camaro. The heart and soul of the package was the 350 CI engine, essentially a 327 with a new crank shaft. Bore stayed the same and the engine put out a healthy 295 HP in stock form. The Super Sport cars also came with the heavy duty rear axle option, or what is known amongst enthusiasts as the 12 bolt, and this car has the Posi Traction option as well.
