Produced from 1999 to 2004, the Ford SVT Lightning was the fastest pickup truck in production. In 2003, the Guinness Book of World Records even made it official with a truck running 147 MPH right off the showroom floor.
The Lightning’s power comes via a 5.4 liter V8 with 8.4:1 compression that utilizes an Eaton Gen IV Supercharger pushing 8-psi. The motor uses aluminum heads, forged pistons, forged rods and a forged steel crank. Output for the 2003 Lightning was 380 HP at 4,750 RPM and 450 ft lbs of tire burning torque. The transmission SVT selected for the truck is the 4R100, which was originally designed to be used in Ford’s line of Super Duty trucks. The sprint to 60 MPH falls just over 5 seconds in favorable conditions with a quarter mile in the mid 14 range. Not bad for a pickup truck!
The vehicle advertised has just over 20,800 miles since new and hails from the great state of Texas. It’s always been garage kept, and is presented is totally stock condition. The interior, paint, engine compartment and undercarriage have been well kept and are all in very clean condition.
For the Ford enthusiast looking for the hot rod truck they never had, this 2003 Lightning is ready for your collection.
