Finished in silver over a black interior, this 1978 Datsun 280z is a wonderfully kept survivor car that is as solid as they get. The car has remained largely unmodified since new and is a blast from the past.
The Z is a breeze to drive both around town and out on the highway. The car fires right up and we’re not sure if it would be possible to find a more reliable sports car from this era. The brakes and suspension feel tight and it’s a blast to throw this little car around the twisties.
Pop open the hatch and peek in the spare tire compartment and you’ll find the correct space saver spare and the original tool bag as well. The interior is far above average for an unrestored car, the only modification being a new dash cap. All gauges are in good working order, and the AC system blows ice cold. The original radio is still in the car, the power antenna works properly and the original seats and door panels look fantastic.
Moving under the hood, you’ll find a very well kept, original engine compartment. The motor remains unmodified since new and runs like a top. These little gems have been known to run 300k between rebuilds so we’ll consider this one to be just getting broken in!
For the Japanese sports car enthusiast looking for a killer example, this little car is a riot.
