Lot #132949
This 1966 Volvo 1800S is finished in white over black vinyl upholstery, and power is provided by a 1.8-liter B18 inline-four linked with a four-speed manual gearbox with a Laycock de Normanville overdrive unit. Equipment includes steel 15″ wheels, chrome hubcaps, front disc brakes, dual exhaust tips, dual carburetors, front bucket seats, an analog clock, VDO instrumentation, and an AM/FM stereo with a cassette player. The current owner’s late husband acquired the car in 2002, and service in preparation for the sale included replacing the spark plugs and fluid changes. This 1800s is now offered on dealer consignment with an Illinois title.
The car left the factory in Pearl White (79) and is said to have been repainted approximately two decades ago. Equipment includes chrome bumpers, quarter vent windows, mud flaps, and dual exhaust tips.
Steel 15″ wheels wear chrome hubcaps and trim rings and are mounted with 165-width Michelin XZX tires. Stopping power is provided by front disc and rear drum brakes. The brake fluid was flushed in preparation for the sale. Corrosion is visible on the wheels.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black vinyl along with a color-coordinated dashboard and door panels. Metal trim accents the dashboard, and equipment includes an analog clock, a heater, a Volvo-branded shift knob, red carpets, and an ESN AM/FM stereo with a cassette player. There a crack in the dashboard above the instrument cluster.
The two-spoke steering wheel wears an aftermarket wrap and frames Smiths instrumentation including a 120-mph speedometer, an inoperative 7k-rpm tachometer, and supplementary vertical gauges for coolant and oil temperature. Additional gauges for fuel level and oil pressure are mounted to the dashboard. The horn does not work. The five-digit mechanical odometer is believed to have rolled over and now shows 25k miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The 1.8-liter B18 inline-four is fitted with dual carburetors and was factory rated at 115 horsepower. Service in preparation for the sale included flushing the coolant, replacing the spark plugs, and performing an oil change.
