Production numbers are the name of the game in collecting and in 1970, Pontiac produced some pretty rare GTO’s! With just 3615 convertibles produced for the model year, the breakdown of available engines gets pretty sparse.
This 1970, 455 HO GTO is 1 of just 158, 455HO 4-speed convertibles produced in 1970, and it’s the only one produced in Polar White over Red.
Documentation includes an original build sheet, original window sticker, PHS documentation, and photography of the restoration.
The Goat has the matching numbers 455 L75 V8, producing 360 HP and 500 lbs-ft of torque off the showroom floor. The engine has the correct 9799140 casting number, May 7th casting date, partial VIN stamping, and “WA” high output engine stamp. The transmission is a non-matching 4-speed and the rear end has the correct XU housing which matches the build sheet and 3.31 gearing.
