Finished in red over a black interior, this 1974 Trans Am is a full restoration that was completed in 2016. The Pontiac was built with a solid California car and has less than 500 miles. The TA has a killer stance and makes a ton of power and has that classic Muscle car sound.
The car was a bare-metal refinish in two-stage paint. All the panel gaps are excellent, and the paint was wet sanded and buffed to a high gloss finish. All the rubber and glass have been replaced and the door latches have been rebuilt. Open the door and you’ll find an all-new interior laid over Dynamat. The TA has a Pioneer head unit with Orion components and amps. All soft panels have been redone, and the dash has a new gauge panel.
The TA makes big torque and power from a fully rebuilt 455 done by Reynolds Machine in Bakersfield, CA. The 30 over block has all new internals, an Edelbrock intake, Edelbrock aluminum heads, a Comp cam, and shorty headers. It also sports electronic ignition and Holley 850 carb. The engine runs nice and cool courtesy of a Be Cool radiator and the exhaust pipes are a meaty 3”. The rear end is Currie built 9” with True Trac 3.25 gears. It’s set up with a 1330 yoke and 31 spline axles. The transmission is a built Turbo 400. With the 3.25 gears and torque 455, this Pontiac is great around town and also a breeze at highway speeds.
The suspension consists of an AccuAir controller with a dual Viair pump and beautifully done hardlines in the trunk. The Accuair digital controller is located in the interior and the settings can be changed between 3 pre-programmed levels. The brakes are set up with a power master cylinder and 4 wheel Wilwood disc brakes. The wheels are custom made Budnik’s that are 19” in the front and 20” in the rear.
For the Pontiac enthusiast looking for a killer custom, this car is very well done.
